“We are going to focus our efforts on trying to influence the agency to grant us more new courses as we have a great need to raise the level of competence in our county. We have many ideas for important courses with new areas of specialization.”

A Higher Vocational Education course is the type of course that almost definitely leads to a job and is only allowed to start if there is a demand for it from employers. One success factor is that the courses combine theory with work experience, and part of the course is based out in workplaces.

This gives the students good opportunities to make important contacts with employers and vice versa, employers get a chance to meet potential employees in the meantime.

In the county of Gävleborg all the municipalities will be collaborating to develop course plans and the courses will be run by various organisers.

In total there were 1421 course applications and of those there were 446 that were accepted.
