Johan Willander is the Teacher of the Year

Johan Willander

Johan Willander, senior lecturer in psychology at the Faculty of Health and Occupational Studies is our “Teacher of the Year.” He will receive the award from the Vice-Chancellor in connection with the University’s 40-year jubilee on 19 May.

Johan Willander has worked at the University of Gävle since 2014. He has taught psychology and statistics and, above all, the method course in the Human Resources and Labour Relations Programme.

He has made statistics fun

Teacher of the Year is a prize awarded by Gefle Student Union based on nominations from the University’s students. Their selection is motivated in the following words:

“Johan has guided, inspired and encouraged students in the method course in the Human Resources and Labour Relations Programme, with great commitment

and with a will to convey knowledge. By the use of his pedagogical skills, he has made statistics fun, easier to understand and he has convinced the students that they can become researchers in the future.”

“I am overwhelmed and overjoyed. This is the best award a teacher can get. It is really a great honour,” Johan Willander says.

“it is wonderful to get to be a part of this journey that the students make. So much happens and to be able to hear their reasoning and be part of their development is a so rewarding.”

The award amounts to 15 000 SEK to be used for work-related purposes.
