Blackboard Learning Platform

What is Blackboard?

Blackboard is a web-based learning management system used for courses at the University of Gävle, a so called learning platform. The system is used for both campus courses and distance learning. To use Blackboard, all you need is a computer that is connected to the internet and has a web browser installed. All courses in Blackboard are searchable.

You can, for example, use Blackboard to:

distribute course material
submit assignments
take digital examinations
communicate through discussion boards and chats

Structure and format

One of the great advantages of Blackboard is that the basic structure is uniform for all courses. This makes it easy for students to navigate the system. However, lecturers can change the number of buttons/menu items and the names of these if they wish to, so courses may not look exactly the same.
