Computer accounts
General information
When a student is accepted for a course, he or she can fetch a computer account. The account is valid a limited time. When registrered in LADOK the computer account is prolonged.
All activity concerning computer accounts i automatic. Infromation i verified against a central database (LADOK). Computer accounts is prolonged or removed.
The computer account is locked three months after the last course. It is the converted to an alumniaccount - which gives access to alumni.hig.se The Alumniaccount is valid forever.
The Gmailaccount is not affected, can be used even after the studies is finished.
If the student comes back the Alumniaccount is transfered to a regular computer account at IT-support. A student keeps the same username both as student and Alumn.
Every student at the university has access to computers in labs and inte the library and an gmail account. You can retrieve your computer account on line at the university web site.
The computer account can only be fetched on line once.
You can not pick up your computer account before week 32 in the autumn term and before week 2 in the spring term.

Changing your password
From a security perspective, we recommend that you change your password at least every sixth months. You can do this yourself through the university IT support system. Please log in and follow the instructions.
