About the Course
Design in the Built Environment is a studio-based course that provides an introduction to develop the knowledge and skills to design a neighborhood within a spatial planning project. The course also give insight in different media of investigation and presentation, with the understanding of a set of tools used in the design process (both analog and digital). Throughout this course the students are able to examine the different ways in which the urban environment is shaped; how form, materials, lighting, and color affect the appearance of the city, how geographic factors, like solar lighting and topography impact the placing of new buildings, and much more.
