In the press release from the Swedish Government, the proximity to the University of Gävle, with its research into working life, is seen as a great asset.
The decision to place the new public authority in Gävle was announced last Thursday in connection with the Government’s meeting.
The mission of the new public authority will be to disseminate knowledge about work environment as well as to evaluate work environment policies. This will mean 20 new jobs in Gävle. The new public authority is planned to start up on 1 June 2018.
“We can be proud,” says Svend Erik Mathiassen, professor in occupational and environmental medicine at the University of Gävle.
“This shows that our research in working life issues is visible and has a very good reputation even at the level of government departments. The fact that this knowledge centre in the form of a public authority will be located in Gävle gives new exciting perspective on the research carried out at the University of Gävle and its development, and not least its possibilities to lead to practical use.”
