Pedagogical support enables Camilla Blomberg to realise her university study dream

2019-10-10

Camilla Blomberg has no visible signs of disability but sometimes she has so much pain in her joints that it is hard for her to eat, talk, write and walk. She has suffered from rheumatoid arthritis since childhood. Without pedagogical support, it would be impossible for her to study at the University.

Camilla is doing her second year of the Social Worker programme at the University of Gävle. She is one of many students at the University who have been granted pedagogical support so as to be able to cope with university studies.

The support she has been granted enables her, for example, to write on a keyboard at exams since writing by hand is too painful for her. In addition, she has been given almost all her required reading in digital form so she doesn’t have to carry a heavy rucksack.

– Considering all the operations I have had, how often I have had to miss classes, how tired I can be and how much pain I have sometimes, I don’t think I could have coped with this study programme without this support. Pedagogical support enables me to do the study programme of my dreams, she says.
