A consortium of major industrial nations in the EU will convene on 27 - 29 November at the University of Gävle. For three days, representatives from regions in, for example, Sweden, Germany, Italy and the Netherlands will share their best solutions and discuss how to improve policy instruments regarding SMEs.
“It is crucial that people from these different countries learn from each other about regional work that aims to improve energy efficiency in SMEs,” Patrik Thollander adds.
“A very good model”
Rather than nations, it is regions, like Gävleborg that participate, and the focus is to develop guidelines divided into three main parts:
- Improving energy efficiency through legal framework like laws and regulations
- Improving energy efficiency through detailed information, for instance by offering mapping services to the businesses
- Improving energy efficiency by offering different kinds of financial support
“Now, we will show the others how we work here in Gävleborg; it is a very good model which others can learn from. So far, many good examples have been highlighted in this collaborative project,” Patrik Thollander concludes.
The University of Gävle hosts the project. Earlier, the University has collaborated with Region Gävleborg in these issues, Patrik Thollander informs us.
