The University of Gävle carries out the 30-credit course on behalf of the Swedish Mapping, Cadastre and Land Registration Authority.
“This is the second contract education within surveying technology and property information that we have been asked to conduct this year. We are very keen and pleased,” says Jonas Boustedt, Head of the Department of Computer and Geospatial Sciences at the University of Gävle.
The course contains physical and comprehensive planning, an introduction to GIS and basic mapping and land surveying technology. Apart from lectures, seminars and laboratory work, there will be some field training.
For the Swedish Mapping, Cadastre and Land Registration Authority this investment is part of the process of strengthening its activities in Kiruna. In total, 35 new employees have been added during the latter part of 2019.
“This is a big, significant investment in which our information developers gain cutting edge knowledge in the field,” says Gorm Lundqvist, section head in Geodata in Kiruna, where the content developers will work.
On January 13, the University of Gävle will start the contract education with the information developers at the Swedish Mapping, Cadastre and Land Registration Authority in Kiruna. All lecturers will be provided by the University of Gävle and they will lecture both online and on site in Kiruna.
