Eight researchers from the University when Stanford lists the world's most cited

Stanford University has now published its list of the top two percent most-cited researchers in the world. Eight researchers from the University of Gävle are on the list.

“University of Gävle has had a very positive development and the fact that our researchers' results have been used by so many people around the world means that our research is important and that the articles have contributed to knowledge development," says Lars Bengtsson, pro-vice-chancellor at University of Gävle.

Lars Bengtsson comments that publications and citations in global rankings play a major role; they become important indicators affecting the university's attractiveness for both research collaborations and students.

Stanford University’s analysis includes the world's top two percent scientists from various scientific fields based on standard citation indications including number of citations, h-index, co-authorship adjusted hm-index, citations to papers in different authorship positions and a composite indicator (c-score).

The results were recently published in PloS Biology and have been classified into 22 scientific fields and 176 subfields.

The list shows the most-cited researchers in 2021 as well as in the entire time period 1960-2021.
