Password

The password linked to your user account must be changed once a year. You can see when the you need to change your password in the Student Portal. You will receive a reminder e-mail 30 days, and then again, 7 days before the password change must occur. If you do not change your password in time, your account will be closed and you lose access to Blackboard and other University web services.

Change or forgot your password?

If you need to change or have forgotten your password, there are three verification methods to chose from in order to set up a new one. These are the same methods you used to collect your user account: universityadmissions.se, edu-id or e-mail.

Set up a new password via universityadmissions.se or edu-id

  1. Go to this page and select the chosen verification method
  2. Log in with your username and password for the selected service
  3. Choose a new password (your username will be displayed in the green box in case you have forgotten it).

Set up a new password via e-mail

  1. Go to this page and fill in your Swedish personal ID number 
  2. A reset link will be sent to the e-mail address you have registered in our student documentation system (Ladok).
  3. Click on the link and choose a new password (your username will be displayed in the green box in case you have forgotten it).

User account authority

User accounts that have been verified via universityadmissions.se or edu-id get a higher authorisation than accounts verified via e-mail. You can access all of the University web services using either verification method but if you use the e-mail method you will not be able to, for example, access the wireless network Eduroam.

It is possible to upgrade your account if you collected it using the e-mail method. You can do this by changing your password using the verification methods universityadmission.se or edu-id.

Error message when collecting your user account?

If you get the error message "You already have a user account at the University of Gävle" when trying to set up your user account and you are not able to change the password, send an email to itsupport@hig.se with your personal ID number or username and we will help you.
