Eduroam (EDUcation ROAMing) allows users to access a wireless network at a visited institution (also connected to eduroam) simply using the same eduroam credentials (i.e. username and password) the users would use i they were at their home institution.

How to connect to Eduroam

For accessing Eduroam you need to follow the instructions below. You only need to do this once. In the future you will be automatically connected to Eduroam when the network is available.

1. Password

The password for Eduroam is not the same as your usual password. You can find your Eduroam password in the left menu at the webpage https://etools.hig.se

2. Follow the instructions for your operating system

Below you will find instructions for several operating systems.

Android

Android 4.3 is required.

Start the installation for Android with downloading the Eduroam CAT application, which is available in Google Play.

Install the Eduroam Cat application on your phone.
Start the browser in your phone.
Go to https://etools.hig.se. Log in with your user account and then copy your specific Eduroam password.
Go then to https://cat.eduroam.org/
Download the Eduroam installer.
Select your organisation: University of Gävle
Click on the suggested Android version.
Click on the downloaded configuration file.
Choose "Install".
Enter your username@hig.se
Enter/paste your Eduroam password.
Choose "Install"
Now Eduroam is installed.

Iphone/Ipad

Start the web browser in your Iphone/Ipad.
Go to https://etools.hig.se. Log in with your user account and then copy your specific Eduroam password.
Go then to https://cat.eduroam.org/
Ladda ner Eduroam installer.
Select your organisation: University of Gävle
Click on Apple iOS mobile devices.
Choose "Allow".
Choose "Install".
Enter the password for your Iphone/Ipad.
Choose "Install".
Enter your username@hig.se och then click on "Next".
Enter/paste your Eduroam password and then click on "Next".
Choose "Finish". Now the configuration is done.
You may need to restart wifi on your phone.

Mac OS

Start a web browser on your Mac.
Go to http://etools.hig.se Log in i with your user account and then copy your specific Eduroam password.
Go then to the web page https://cat.eduroam.org/
Download the Eduroam installer.
Select your organisation: University of Gävle
Click on your version of Mac OS.
Download or open the configuration file.
Choose "Next".
Install the profile by clicking Next.
Enter your username@hig.se and your Eduroam password. Then choose Install. (in this step, you need to be administrator on your Mac)
Now the profile is installed.
Access the network Eduroam.

Windows 10

Start a web browser on your computer.
Go to http://etools.hig.se Log in with your user account and then copy your specific Eduroam password.
Then go to https://cat.eduroam.org/
Download the Eduroam installer.
Select your organisation: University of Gävle
Click on your Windows Version.
Choose "Run" to start the installation
Choose "Next".
Choose "Ok".
Enter your username@hig.se and your Eduroam password and then choose "Install".
Choose Finish. Now Eduroam is installed.
Click on the "Connect automatically" when connecting to Eduroam.
