The ability to continuously improve and innovate is imperative in contemporary businesses. This programme focuses on the management of innovation in a supply chain context. This means logistics play a key role: the methods and techniques for effectively managing the flow of goods, services and information in, and between, organisations are at the heart of the programme. Sustainainability and innovation has recently become increasingly important, and is nowadays seen as a prerequisite for managing global supply chains.
The courses you will study are closely linked to ongoing research, with the ambition to provide a combination of key approaches and methods needed to manage core challenges in contemporary businesses. Some key areas dealt with concern: strategies and techniques for efficient logistics systems and collaboration between firms, innovation management, production strategies for business excellence and methodologies for implementing quality and environmental management systems.
Most courses within the programme combine theoretical models and insights with assignments and projects in industrial firms. The ambition is to provide a comprehensive understanding of business development, not least knowledge on how to combine and balance the needs of efficiency and lean production with long term innovation capability.
The study major has a total duration of nine month taught courses (60 ECTS credits) including a thesis project work (15 ECTS credits). The programme is open to international students from all over the world.
The programme language is English. After successful completion of the programme students are awarded the Master of Science (1 year) in Industrial Engineering and Management. (In Swedish: Magister i Industriell ekonomi).

One ambition is to prepare students for advanced and leading positions in industrial firms and organisations, especially if combined with operative experience.
Knowledge of the management of logistics and innovation are appreciated in most business sectors. The programme also gives the student qualifications for further Ph.D. studies.
Prerequisites
A completed Bachelor's degree, corresponding to a Swedish Bachelor's degree (180 ECTS), or equivalent academic qualifications from an internationally recognised university. Major in Industrial Engineering and Management (90 ECTS) or equivalent. English language proficiency equivalent to (the Swedish upper secondary school) English course B/6.
