Study Programme in Automation Engineering, 180 cr

The course commences with an introduction on the topic of automation. This is so that you can quickly get a general outline of the  subject and a better understanding of subsequent courses. Exciting  project work is a part of many of the courses, which is a normal form of study both at the University and in  working life in the future.

Possible changes in the courses may occur. If you are reading a course with a  "Co-op" experience then the course is four years long. For further information see the course plan that describes your studies

Year 1

Semester 2
Maintenance technology 7.5 hp
Field Mechanical Engineering

On completion of the course, the student should be able to:
1 interpret and define management systems for basic facilities
2 account for the meaning of personal safety, security of installations and environmental security
3 apply basic relationships in tribology
4 have understanding of the efficiency of the facility and maintenance costs
5 apply the correct methods for the best cost efficiency
6 account for basic maintenance administration
7 know and understand the cause of errors and disturbances
8 have basic knowledge of corrective and preventive maintenance
9 assess the reliability of production plants.

Semester 2
Scientific Theory and Writing 7.5 hp
Field Geography, Building Engineering, Computer Science, Geomatics, Surveying Technology, Applied Geographical Information Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Spatial Planning, Industrial Economics, Electronics, Energy Systems

The purpose of the course is to prepare the students within the programmes of the Faculty of Engineering and Sustainable Development for their coming theses. The main focus of the course is on a scientific literature study and on writing a literature review paper.
