Study Programme in Energy Systems Engineering, Co-op

The course commences with an introduction on the topic of automation. This is so that you can quickly get a general outline of the  subject and a better understanding of subsequent courses. Exciting  project work is a part of many of the courses, which is a normal form of study both at the University and in  working life in the future.

Building physics 7.5 hp
Field Building Engineering, Energy Technology

On completion of the course, the student should have advanced knowledge about and be able to explain heat and moisture transfer occurring in connection to buildings. The student should be able to calculate thermal and moisture-technnical states in building components and buildings, and quantitatively determine the effect and energy demands of these.

Semester 1
Measurement techniques for energy systems 7.5 hp
Field Energy Systems

The course intends to provide the measurement-technical expertise required for a thorough mapping of the energy use and indoor climate of a building. An important part of the course consists of laboratory sessions intended to provide skills in applying different methods of measurement.

The course covers e g basic steam cycles, advanced steam cycles, combined power and heating plants, boilers and combustion, basic gas turbines, gas turbine systems, combined cycles, heating and cooling pump systems, both compressor driven systems and absorption systems.

Building Energy Systems I 7.5 hp
Field Building Engineering, Energy Systems

The purpose of this course is to provide the technical and physical knowledge necessary for design, and also principles of dimensioning of technical installations for the climate control of buildings. The course also intends to provide knowledge about how the technical systems influence the design of the building plan, concerning placing and space requirements.

Industriella energisystem 7.5 hp
Field Energy Systems

The course intends to provide knowledge of industrial energy systems. The course covers both supply and usage aspects. An orientation in the connection between energy use and industrial production is provided. Knowledge about mapping, energy conservation and the importance of energy use in energy and environmental management systems.

Scientific Theory and Writing 7.5 hp
Field Geography, Building Engineering, Computer Science, Geomatics, Surveying Technology, Applied Geographical Information Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Spatial Planning, Industrial Economics, Electronics, Energy Systems

The purpose of the course is to prepare the students within the programmes of the Faculty of Engineering and Sustainable Development for their coming theses. The main focus of the course is on a scientific literature study and on writing a literature review paper.

Semester 2
Simulering och optimering av energisystem 7.5 hp
Field Energy Systems

On completion of the course, the student should be able to handle common simulation and optimisation tools for analysing industrial energy systems, the energy systems of buildings and national/regional energy systems. Environmental and economic consequences of the analysed energy systems are studied.
