Secondary and Upper Secondary Teacher Education Programme Mathematics 300 hp
Would you like to work as a teacher in compulsory school years 7–9, in the upper secondary school or within adult education? Then you should choose the Special Subjects Teacher Programme.
A degree is a prerequisite to be licensed
The new demand for licensed teachers means that a teacher degree is a prerequisite in order to gain employment as a teacher. At the University of Gävle, you can - as part of the new teacher training which was implemented autumn 2011 – train to become a special subjects teacher within compulsory school years 7–9 or within the upper secondary school.
Great need
There is a large proportion of teachers working without formal qualifications. During the next few years, a large number of teachers will retire. Therefore, the labour market for teachers with a Bachelor of Science in Education is deemed to be good.
Upper-secondary School
In order to become a qualified secondary school and adult education teacher you must have two subjects in your degree. You will complete your degree project in one of these subjects. The chosen subject will then be your main subject, but it does not necessarily have to be the one you study first. You may choose a combination of subjects from the list below.
