If you are a new student you will receive your invoice by email about a week after the Notification of Selection Results has been published on www.universityadmissions.se

Ongoing students will receive their invoice in May for Autumn semester and in November for Spring semester.

Will I receive a confirmation of my payment?

Will I receive a confirmation of my payment?

Yes, we will send you a confirmation of your payment via e-mail when we have received and handled your payment. Please note that it can take up to five banking days after the payment was made.

When will I receive my Notification of Admissions Result (admissions letter)?

When will I receive my Notification of Admissions Result?

The Notification of Admissions Result (PDF) on universityadmissions.se is the official copy of your admissions letter. If you are required to present an official copy of your admissions letter, please print out a copy of this pdf-document. The printed document will be recognised as your official admissions letter in Sweden and at Swedish embassies and consulates worldwide.

The condition regarding payment will not change on universityadmissions.se when you have paid. It is not technically possible. All fee paying students have the same condition there even if they have paid the tuition fee. The Swedish Migration Agency receive information from the university when a student has paid their fee so they will not object to that condition.

You can apply for a residence permit after the tuition fee has been paid and you have received the payment confirmation from University of Gävle. The University informs the Swedish Migration Agency regarding your payment automatically as soon as we have received the payment.

Can I get the invoice in another currency?

No. We only issue invoices in Swedish crowns (SEK).

Please talk to your bank to receive help, if you are making the payment from a different currency.

No, we only accept payment by bank transfer.

Can someone else pay my invoice?

Can someone else pay my invoice?

Yes. Anyone can pay the invoice but be sure that they mention the invoice number. Please note that in case of a reimbursement of the tuition fee it will only be reimbursed to the account from where the original transaction was carried out.

Can I pay the tuition fee in instalments?

Can I pay the tuition fee in instalments?

This applies for new students paying for their first semester:
The tuition fee can only be paid in instalments before the due date. The tuition fee has to be paid in full before the due date. If not the admission will be cancelled.

For ongoing students paying for the second semester or latter semesters this applies:
The tuition fee can only be paid in instalments before the start of the semester. Please note that it is not possible to pay in instalments during the semester. The tuition fee has to be paid in full before the start of the semester. The invoice number has to be mentioned on every payment.
If the tuition fee is not paid in full when the semester starts, ongoing students will be put on academic suspension.

Due to international regulations, it is currently not allowed for Swedish universities to pay money to Iran.

You should be aware of this already when you make a payment, and be careful about which account you choose to make the payment from. A reimbursement is always made to the same account as the payment was originally made from. Consequently, we recommend that you choose a payment method that works also if a refund must be made.

No, you will have to organise your own health insurance in your home country.

If your degree programme is longer than one year, you’re entitled to the same health benefits as Swedes after registering with the Swedish Tax Agency in order to receive a personal identity number. Once you’ve received your number, you’ll be entitled to all healthcare and pay Swedish patient fees.

Do note that this doesn’t cover your journey to Sweden or the time you spend in the country prior to receiving your personal identity number. To be fully covered for that period, you will need some form of insurance from your home country.

Please note that if you are admitted to a one year programme you will not be able to registering with the Swedish Tax Agency!

No. It is not possible to defer the admission due to the covid-19 situation. If you don't start the programme now your admission will be cancelled. You are welcome to apply again for next session at www.universityadmissions.se

How can I retrieve a Personnummer Civic number?

You can only retrieve a Swedish personal identity number from the Swedish Tax Office if you have a residence permit that is valid at least 12 month from the day you arrive in Sweden.

Can I open a bank account in Sweden?

Can I open a bank account in Sweden?

Only students with a Swedish personal identity number are entitled to open a Swedish bank account. You can only retrieve a Swedish personal identity number from the Swedish Tax Office if you have a residence permit that is valid at least 12 month from the day you arrive in Sweden.

Students staying at University of Gävle less than 12 months will not have the possibility to open a Swedish bank account. So if you are staying less then 12 months you must have a VISA/Mastercard/Travel Card from your home country and/or have the possibility to use the internet transaction services through your home bank accounts in order to make payments in Sweden. It is also possible to send and receive a money order through the Western Union Bank offices.

Because of the transaction and conversion fees involved in frequent international transactions, you should in this situation be prepared to handle your expenses in cash. The Forex office allows international customers to open a limited savings account. They also provide a service for the payment of bills using cash, but take an administrative fee for doing so.

No, you will have to organise your own accommodation. Please remember to do so in good time before your arrival. The University of Gävle does not provide any student accommodation.

Do I need to show a receipt for the Swedish Migration Agency?

No. When we have received the tuition fee and registered it in our computer system the Swedish Migration Agency will automatically see that you have paid. You will receive a confirmation email that you can upload with your application for residence permit.

How do I change my payment status?

How do I change my payment status?

If your residency status changes (e.g. you have been granted European citizenship or changed your type of residence permit) you must submit documents to University of Gävle that certifies the change. A change in status does not affect the tuition fee for the semester that has already commenced, i.e. no reimbursements are possible.

An application for reimbursement of the tuition fee must be made within 21 days from the programme start.

Is vaccination against COVID-19 free of charge for students?

General information about vaccination against COVID-19

Students at University of Gävle can be vaccinated against COVID-19 free of charge by the Gävleborg Region.

This applies both for students who are unvaccinated and for those who have received dose 1 in their home country. Here in Sweden, we offer MRNA vaccines: Comirnaty (Pfizer) and Spikevax (Moderna).

There are two ways to book your vaccination

Book an appointment via 026-15 03 00. The support provides booking service in English.
Visit the drop-in service. No advance booking is required. Drop-in opening hours and places are listed at 1177.se/Gavleborg. Bring proof of identity, such as your passport.

If you have been given a dose of vaccine

You will need to certify that you have been given one dose and which type of vaccine that was used. The healthcare services will check whether the vaccine is approved by the WHO.

If you have been vaccinated with a vaccine that is not approved by the WHO, an individual assessment will be made.

Vaccination certificate

When you have been vaccinated by the Gävleborg Region, you can obtain a vaccination certificate in a paper version. No digital vaccination certificate can be issued for individuals from countries other than Sweden.
