I want to make an interlibrary loan

If you require books not contained in the library’s collection, you can request an interlibrary loan from other Swedish libraries and collect the items when the library is open.

Keep in mind that it may be difficult to obtain certain books and that delivery may take longer than usual due to library closures and reduced capacity. We are temporarily unable to borrow books from libraries outside of Sweden.

Renewing an interlibrary loan

If you wish to renew your interlibrary loan, contact us at: bibfjarr@hig.se.

What applies to borrowing and reserving library books?

Are you sick and unable to borrow or return books?

Borrow books
You can send someone else to borrow books or collect reserved books for you. That person must provide his or her own ID as well as yours.

Returning library books

  • Check first if you are able to renew your loans via your library account. The number of permitted renewals per item has increased from 4 to 10, as long as the book is not reserved. If the book is reserved, you will not be able to renew it yourself. Contact the library via email: biblioteket@hig.se or phone: 026-64 85 48
  • Someone else may return books on your behalf, either in the library or in our return box which is located outside the entrance to the Student Centre.
  • Send the book to us via mail, to the following address: University of Gävle, Library, 801 76 Gävle
  • Overdue loans will not incur fees from March 16.

Are you waiting for a reserved book?
It can take longer than usual to receive your reserved item due to difficulties in returning items on time. Your reservation will remain in place until you receive the book or inform us that you no longer require it.

The library premises

The side entrances to the library via the inner courtyard are open Monday – Friday from 10am to 2pm.
