By registering as a borrower, you acknowledge that you have read and agree to be bound by the terms and conditions. You also agree that the library may process your personal data for the purposes of administering your loans and contacting you. Borrowing regulations may be updated and any revisions will be published on this webpage.
The library is primarily for students and staff at University of Gävle, but also available to the public. Students from other universities are subject to the same borrowing regulations as the University’s own students.
If you are a student enrolled in a distance learning course at University of Gävle and do not live in Gävle municipality (in Sweden) you can have books sent to you by post within Sweden. Please note that you must pay for the return postage. The library can also send you copies of articles ordered from other libraries.
Interlibrary loan books, however, must always be picked up at the library during the time when the information desk is open. Therefore, we refer you to your local library for interlibrary loans.
If you are not an employee or a student at the University of Gävle, or any other university, you will be registred as an external borrower. As such, you can borrow our books, except course books. We do not offer interlibrary loan services to the public, so we refer you to your nearest public library.
You are allowed to search the library's databases using the guest account you can receive if you visit during the time when the information desk is staffed.
The library processes your personal data to enable you to borrow and reserve books and other library materials. The data recorded in the library’s system are: name, personal identity number, e-mail address, telephone number and home address.
Data on borrowing, reservations or other forms of ordering and use of information technology by individuals is governed by Chapter 40, Section 3 of the Public Access to Information and Secrecy Act (2009: 400).
This means that such information is confidential; the library does not disclose any information about who has borrowed a particular item or what a particular individual has borrowed unless that piece of information can be disclosed without causing any harm to the individuals in question or to near relations to them. The same applies to reservations.
