Assessments of people's age, height and weight

Weighty in many contexts

Assessments of people's age, height and weight are important in many contexts where society has applied age restrictions to certain goods and services (alcohol, tobacco, films of a nature unsuitable for children, etc.)

It is also information which normally comes up in witness information and which is particularly useful as it is harder to misrepresent than e.g., hair colour and hairstyle.

On a more general level, our behaviour in social situations is always influenced by such information. Assessments of people's age, height and weight are relevant for the formation of many different theories, including psychophysics, social cognition and personal descriptions.
