Monitoring people with migraines who have been treated with an internet-based stress management programme, studied from a gender perspective.
The aim is to evaluate internet-based multimodal behavioural treatment (MBT) for migraines. Research subjects are interviewed regarding their migraine situation and state of health and the extent to which they have continued to implement the MBT programme once the initial study had finished. The research subjects' opinions are gathered in order to assess what facilitates the use of internet-based treatment programmes and to what extent the research subjects' lifestyle has changed in accordance with the programme content, with a focus on their ability to manage stress.
It is well known that stress is a contributory factor to migraines and that women's and men's life situations - and thereby stress factors - differ, which is why it is important to establish a gender perspective. Long-term investigation of treatment programmes is important in order to develop them and further adapt them to the intended target group, which leads to both reduced suffering for the patient and reduced healthcare costs.
