Motivational Interviewing: Primary care nurses experiences, training and use

The project included four sub-studies with the aim to describe the primary care nurses training and use in motivational interviewing (MI). The aim was also to describe how well primary care nurses performs MI and how the patients respond during the MI session. Another aim was to describe the primary care nurses experiences of MI. Audio-recorded MI sessions have been analyzed with Motivational Interviewing Treatment Integrity Code (MITI) and Motivational Interviewing Sequential Code for Observing Process Exchanges (MI-SCOPE) and were conducted in cooperation with a research group at Karolinska Institutet that works with these analyze methods.

External funding has been received from Stroke riksförbundet (The Swedish Stroke Association), The Swedish Heart and Lung Association and Erik, Karin och Gösta Selanders Foundation. The project has resulted in 2 research articles and at least 2 research articles are under preparation.
