To apply for an Erasmus + traineeship -scholarship, you must:
- be a student at the University of Gävle.
- study with the intention of taking a degree in undergraduate or postgraduate education.
- have arranged an internship relevant to you education and approved by the University of Gävle in one of the 31 countries that are part of Erasmus+. See list below
- wishes to do thesis abroad or collect information for the thesis abroad.
- minimum length of the traineeship is 2 months up to 12 months.
- you have not applied for your diploma prior to applying for the traineeship.
The traineeship can be done at any time during the study year, which means you can also do the traineeship during the summer.
The traineeship does not need to be included in your education, you can choose to do the traineeship outside of your studies. It is also possible to complete the traineeship within one year of completing your education.
If the traineeship was done during your studies you can request to have your traineeship added to the diploma as a supplement.
You can apply and be granted Erasmus exchange several times. However, you can participate in a maximum of a total of twelve months of exchange (study and/or traineeship) per level of education. That is, twelve months for the bachelor's degree, twelve months for the master's level and twelve months for the PhD level.
The grant is between 555 and 615 euro per month, depending on which country the traineeship takes place in and the length of the traineeship.

Where can you do a traineeship?
You can do the traineeship at a company, research institute, laboratory, organization or other relevant workplace with in Erasmus+ programme, during or after your studies.
Plese keep in mind that the following organizations are not allowed to host an Erasmus traineeship:
- EU institutions and other EU bodies.
- Organizations managing EU programs, such as national Erasmus + offices.

Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Danmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Irland, Island, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxemburg, Malta, Netherlands, North Macedonia, Norway, Polen, Portugal, Romenia, Serbia, Slovenia, Slovakia, Spain & Turkey.
Note: Great Britain no longer possible due to Brexit, Sweden not possible either and you cannot do the traineeship in your home country.
Language test & course
If you go on a study exchange or internship within the Erasmus+ programme, you are required to take a language test – the Erasmus+ Online Linguistic Support (OLS) language assessment – before and after your time abroad. If you wish to improve your language proficiency, you will have the opportunity to follow an online language course before and during your time abroad. More information!
Erasmus+ App
As a Erasmus+ student you will use a Erasmus+ App, mobile application that guides Erasmus+ participants every step of the way.

Insurance during the traineeship
The University of Gävle has a comprehensive insurance from Kammarkollegiet for all students travelling abroad within Erasmus+.
Note: The insurance does not apply in the countries where the Ministry of Foreign Affairs advises against all travel, even if the advice only applies to a specific area in the country.
