For us, industrial innovation is broader than product innovation and can be about developing new products, processes and systems, but also approaches, organisations and business relations.
"We have become aware that we need smart systems, methods and approaches to be able to do more with less and produce products and services that are needed in a way that is kind to society," says Per Hilletofth.
Digitalisation and automation fundamentally change the possibilities of developing the future’s more sustainable production systems and we must contribute research that enables us to produce products and services in an effective and sustainable manner.
The goal is to achieve more sustainable production through industrial innovation with a focus on organisation design and digitalisation. Such as using information technology to control, design, plan and develop production and logistics systems.

Interdisciplinary research plays a crucial role for generating the knowledge required to create the next generation of production systems. We must create new knowledge and it must also lead to industrial development where we develop the partners we work with.
