The University of Gävle offers a Bachelor of Spatial Planning program that exposes students to the practice, technical skills and theory of spatial planning and land management. Students can complete a degree in either physical planning or geography and supplement their studies through internationalexchanges or specialised learning opportunities.
Our program is well-rounded, challenging and highly rated. In a recent assessment conducted by the Swedish Higher Education Authority, training provided by our spatial planning concentration was given the highest accreditation possible.

We are part of the Department of Industrial Development, IT and Land Management which in turn resides within the Faculty of Engineering an Sustainable Development. Other programs in our department include IT/GIS, Technical Surveying, and Land Management programs. The two latter programs were also rated "very high" by external auditors in 2012.
In addition, the university recently granted the Built Environment subjects the right to develop graduate programming within the theme GeoInformation Science. This focus will include geomatics and related fields such as planning.
The University is located in a park like setting just west the city of Gävle's central core. Gävle is a great place to study planning. It is the home of the head offices of Lantmäteriet (the state agency overseeing property and geographic information), and Future Position X (the largest cluster of Geographic Information Systems firms, agencies, and educational programs in Europe) and the regional offices of many government agencies and consulting firms.
