Jag undervisar i datavetenskap och forskar i datavetenskapens didaktik. I undervisningen möter jag blivande ingenjörer, datavetare, lärare och andra med intresse att lära sig datavetenskap. Mina favoritämnen är objektorienterad programmering och hårdvarunära programmering, men jag undervisar även i kompilatorteknik, projektmetodik, programvaruutveckling och ämnesdidaktik. Innan min lärarutbildning i datavetenskap och matematik var jag verksam som ingenjör inom telecom med utveckling och programmering av inbäddade mikrodatorsystem. Jag anställdes vid Högskolan i Gävle 1998 och 2010 disputerade jag i datavetenskap med inriktning mot datavetenskapens didaktik.​

AKTUELL FORSKNING

Mitt forskningsintresse riktar sig mot lärande och undervisning i datavetenskap. Bland annat är jag intresserad av studenters förståelse av centrala koncept, tröskelbegrepp och designprocesser. I samarbete med en kollega vid ett danskt lärosäte har vi startat en studie av olika ämnens, lärares och studenters användning och förståelse av begrepp i undervisningsspråket, där vi samlar in data från lärare och studenter inom olika utbildningsområden i Sverige och Danmark.

Sedan slutet av 2022 har många berörts av ChatGPT och liknande AI-assistenter. I en pågående studie undersöker vi inom kollegiet i datavetenskap vilka möjligheter och risker sådana verktyg medför i vår utbildningskontext.
