Johan Colding

Professor, docent i naturresurshushållning

Forskningsämne: Miljövetenskap

Johan Colding disputerade år 2001 inom ämnet naturresurshantering vid Institutionen för Systemekologi vid Stockholms universitet. Han är anställd som forskningsledare vid HiG Urban Studio, som är ett strategiskt styrt forskningsprogram för hållbar stadsutveckling vid Högskolan i Gävle och vars huvudsakliga uppgift är att stimulera forskning om städers hållbarhet genom integrering av socio-teknisk miljöforskning med forskning kring social-ekologisk stadsdesign. Johan är också Biträdande Professor vid Beijerinstitutet för Ekologisk Ekonomi vid Kungliga Vetenskapsakademien i Stockholm där han leder forskningen kring urbana social-ekologiska system http://www.beijer.kva.se. Sedan år 2006 har han också varit temaledare för den urbanekologiska forsknings som bedrivs vid Stockholm Resilience Centre på Stockholms Universitet http://www.stockholmresilience.org.

I sin forskning studerar Johan hur städer mer optimalt kan bidra till en mer hållbar förvaltning av biosfären. Detta inbegriper forskning kring att bygga resiliens i stadsrummen med särskild inriktning på samspelet mellan ekosystem, stadsform och institutionella styrmedel samt de underliggande mentala modeller som formar och påverkar rådande stadsutveckling.
