Professor Stephan Barthel leder utmaningsdriven forskning om gröna städer och om det civila samhällets roll för en klimatomställning. Han integrerar kunskapssystem för att stärka välfärdssamhällets resiliens under en samhällstransformation mot en fossilfri framtid. Han har också uppdraget att den akademiska forskningen ska leda till ökade transdisciplinära samarbeten och samskapande projekt med aktörer utanför akademin.
