|Questions about registration and admission|
This course consists of an individual research project or degree thesis. There will be an introduction to the course on Zoom January 19. You should have perused the guidelines for the course and ordered the course literature before this meeting. The time for the meeting, the meeting room link, the guidelines and other resources will be available on your course page in Canvas two weeks before the course starts. Please note that the topic of your degree thesis is chosen in consultation with your supervisor and that it must be in line with the guidelines.
Make sure you order the course literature in good time before the term starts. We will use Akademiskt skrivande (Blomström & Wennerberg 2021) and Forskningsmetodikens grunder: Att planera, genomföra och rapportera en undersökning (Patel & Davidson) as well as HSFR’s Forskningsetiska principer i humanistisk-samhällsvetenskaplig forskning (available online) and APA’s References (available online). Any other literature is decided upon in consultation with your supervisor.
You will be expected to follow a timetable with seminars at regular intervals and set deadlines for drafts of sections of your thesis. Your supervisor will read and comment on your drafts, but it is important to remember that you should work with a high degree of independence throughout the research process. These are full-time studies, and you must be prepared to devote a lot of time and effort to your degree thesis.
It is important that you log onto Canvas in good time before the course starts, since this will be our main channel for communication. This is where you will find material about our course such as the timetable, instructions, and additional resources. This is also where the course coordinator will post general announcements concerning the course. The email client will be used to send individual messages when necessary. Therefore, check the course page and your email regularly. Please note that the Canvas calendar is not your class timetable, it only indicates deadlines for Canvas assignments. Use the link to the “Course timetable” to access your class timetable.
We will meet in a virtual classroom using Zoom. The link will be posted on Canvas. To participate in the online meetings, you must make sure you have a well-functioning headset with a microphone instead of the microphone on the computer only, as well as a good camera.
Cheating and plagiarizing are serious academic offences, which result in failing the module in question and being reported to the university’s disciplinary board. To learn about plagiarism and get basic information on how to avoid it, please read this material in Swedish or English.
