What is Sports Science?
Sports Science is a cross-disciplinary field of studies that focuses on the individual athlete and sports culture. The Sports Science programme at the University of Gävle focuses on a healthy lifestyle and prepares students for working in sports and with physical activities that suit everyone.
Emphasis on sports from a health perspective
The programme has two main tracks: Adapted Physical Activity (APA) and Doping. APA focuses on making groups of people in sports visible and including them in order to make possible a physically active lifestyle for all. The Doping track highlights the problems found in sports as well as the professional and recreational abuse of performance enhancing drugs.
