Join EU GREEN:s step challenge!

Students and staff at EU GREEN’s partner universities are invited to take part in a cross-border step challenge running from 28 April to 18 May, aimed at promoting physical activity, community, and sustainable habits. Register by 26 April and let’s have fun together – all across Europe!

The aim of the initiative is to encourage daily movement, combat sedentary lifestyles, and promote active mobility – all in support of a healthy and sustainable campus life.

  • Register by 26 April!
  • The activity runs from 28 April to 18 May

A fun and inclusive 3-week competition

From 28 April to 18 May, participants will walk or cycle to earn points using the Kiplin mobile app. In teams of up to five people, participants will contribute to a collective effort to move more!

Whether walking to lectures, cycling to work, or enjoying a lunchtime stroll – every step counts. Fun challenges and quizzes will be integrated into the experience to make it even more engaging, and to give teams the opportunity to earn bonus points.

How does it work?

Participants collect “kips” through physical activity, which are then converted into points. The points system is designed to reward consistent moderate activity over occasional intense efforts, encouraging healthy habits for all:

  • 1 kip = 100 steps or 1 minute of cycling
  • Points scale:
    • 1–100 kips → 100 points per kip
    • 101–200 kips → 50 points per kip
    • 201–300 kips → 10 points per kip
    • Beyond 300 kips → 0 points per kip

Ready to get started? Register by 26 April!

Prepare to join students and staff across Europe – the challenge starts on 28 April.

  1. Download the Kiplin app on your smartphone. On our work iPhones, the Kiplin app is available in Self Service, so you don’t need to enter an Apple ID.
  2. If you're on Android: also download Google Fit
  3. If you're on iPhone: enable data sharing with the Health app
  4. For cycling: install the Social Ride app. The time spent cycling can then be transferred to the Kiplin app.
  5. To start the adventure, enter the registration code "EUGREENKIP25" in the Kiplin app. You’ll find "Add a Kiplin code" under Home in the app.
  6. Create your account. Only your username will be visible in the app – no other personal information will be shown.
  7. Join University of Gävle (Högskolan i Gävle)
  8. If you like: Create or join a team (max. 5 members)

Let’s move, connect and enjoy ourselves together – across Europe!
