Masterclass: A critical perspective about our role as educators
This masterclass explores attention as an ethical and pedagogical stance in education. Through practices such as “educating the gaze” and the Community of Inquiry, it invites participants to slow down, notice the overlooked, and cultivate shared spaces for thoughtful listening, questioning, and meaning-making.

Date: Thursday 12th February
Time: 13:30-15:00 CET
Place: Zoom: https://hig-se.zoom.us/j/9871706251?omn=67547844530 External link.
This masterclass explores attention as an ethical and pedagogical stance—shifting education from content delivery toward cultivating conditions for meaningful encounter, care, and inquiry. It introduces “educating the gaze” and the Community of Inquiry as practices for slowing down, noticing the overlooked, and making thinking and listening a shared, disciplined public activity.
Drawing on some critical thinker, the session frames teaching as mediating worlds and opening hopeful, question-driven learning where students gradually become authors of what matters—and of themselves.
Lecturer: Matteo Cattaneo, Ph.D, at the University of Gävle
