Renowned conference focusing on sustainable international business

This year is the 31st time the conference is organised at the University of Gävle, in collaboration with Georgia State University, USA.

– We are proud to have the opportunity to host the renowned international conference CIMaR. It contributes to giving international visibility to the University and the research conducted in international business in particular. With a focus on sustainability, the conference also addresses one of the major societal challenges, says Annika Strömberg, Head of the Academy of Education and Business Administration (AUE).

Valuable for companies that want to be international

CIMaR stands for Consortium for International Marketing Research and it is a world-leading platform for discussing contemporary research issues in international business and marketing.

– Understanding and incorporating sustainable international business practices and strategies is important for all companies if they look forward to internationalising and becoming a global player, as sustainable international business strategies allow companies to survive and perform in a complex and competitive global business environment, says Ehsanul Huda Chowdhury, Associate Professor at the Department of Economics.

CIMaR was founded in 1993 and is supported by the Centre for International Business Education & Research (CIBER) at Georgia State University.

– The conference offers a fantastic opportunity to meet some of the world's leading researchers in international business and international marketing at home. For the University of Gävle, it is a unique opportunity to showcase the research we conduct. We also welcome colleagues from other departments to contribute to CIMaR, says Daniella Fjellström, associate professor at the Department of Economics.

A chance to showcase the university's potential

– CIMaR gives us the opportunity not only to expand our network and showcase our beautiful, sustainable campus, but also to demonstrate that our young institution has the potential to contribute to discussions within the international business administration academic community, says Michelle Rydback, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Economics.
