Meet Vilgot and Elsa - always on the move!
They are challenged by trying to solve technical and scientific problems. Through Tekniksprånget, Elsa Brykt and Vilgot Enfors hope to gain new insights for future career choices, while inspiring school students and giving them an insight into the academic environment.

Elsa Brykt was studying the science program in upper secondary school when her class was visited by a person from Tekniksprånget.
– She told me what she could do and I thought it sounded interesting. Then I looked at the website and thought it seemed inspiring to work at the University of Gävle. I also really enjoy the study environment, so this is really the place for me, she says.
Built his own computer
There are about ten places, with two places in each, that offer the technology leap in the Gävle area. Vilgot Enfors studied the technology program at Polhemsskolan and applied to the University because he wanted to get an insight into the activities of an institution of higher education while it can give ideas for future studies.
– I want to learn as much as possible and when it comes to mechanics and problem solving I can easily get stuck in things because I want to find a solution. When I was a kid, the coolest thing you could do was build a box truck with pedals. In eighth grade, I bought parts and built my own computer. I want to be challenged technically, he says.

Since they started at Tekniksprånget at the University, they have had to go through the website's program pages, compile statistics on how high school students apply for different programs and universities, as well as receive school visits and go out to schools and talk to students and inform about the technology leap.
– A major project is Teknikmässan in November. Otherwise, we receive primary school students at workshops, for example. We had a workshop in the Exploratory Learning Lab with 20 people, half of whom were exchange students from Germany, so we got to speak English too.
Appreciates meeting students
Many assignments are about getting to work practically with students.
– It's fun to meet and talk to students and go out to schools. We develop a lot socially because we get to talk in front of people. In the beginning it was a bit scary but already now we feel that we have developed because we do it so often, says Elsa.
Vilgot thinks he would like to train as an engineer and is now thinking about what direction he should take, while Elsa is choosing between medicine and engineering.
– I've always thought it was fun to study. Nature and technology are often highlighted as slightly more difficult subjects and that triggers me because I like to be challenged.

Tekniksprånget
The national initiative Tekniksprånget is a four-month internship program where those aged between 18 and 21 can test the engineering profession. It is also a way for Swedish companies to get a head start in the search for new skills.
The aim is to inspire more people to choose higher technical education and give them an idea of what to expect after their studies. Tekniksprånget is run by the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences (IVA) and is a collaborative initiative between the government and employers around Sweden in need of higher technical skills.
