Her current research work is part of the project "Sustainable work in an ageing workforce", which aims to increase understanding of how older workers' are affected by and handle emotional burdens at work. The project started in September 2021 and is expected to end in October 2026.

Zsuzsanna's PhD project consists of four studies:

  • A literature review compiling previous research on how age interacts with emotional burdens and workers' health and organizational outcomes.
  • Two quantitative studies that examine how exposure to emotional demands and emotion regulation strategies in different occupational groups affect health and well-being and how these relationships are affected by age.
  • A qualitative study highlighting older workers' experiences and perceptions of emotional burdens in working life.

This research is particularly relevant for occupations where emotional burdens are a central part of work, such as care and service occupations. By better understanding the impact of emotional burdens on health and well-being, employers can create better conditions for sustainable work environments. Research also highlights the importance of including older workers in the workforce, benefiting from their strengths and providing them with the support they need. This benefits both the health of the individual and the long-term sustainability of the organization and society.

Zsuzsanna aims to continue her research on emotional burdens in different occupations, focusing on how work organizations can promote the health and well-being of their employees. The goal is to create conditions for a sustainable working life where individuals in emotionally demanding occupations can balance the demands of work without jeopardizing their health. Through this work, she hopes to contribute to strengthening both individual occupational health and well-being, as well as promoting sustainability at the organizational and societal level.
