Fereshteh Ahmadi is full Professor of sociology at the Faculty of Health and Occupational Studies, the Department of Social Work and Criminology, University of Gävle. Ahmadi concluded her Ph.D in sociology at Uppsala University External link. in 1995 and became associate professor in sociology in 2001 at the same university. In 2009, she became full professor in sociology at the University of Gävle.

  • An international project on Meaning-Making Coping with cancer (2006-2020).
    The project involves researchers from Sweden, South Korea, China, Japan, Malaysia, Philippines, Brazil, Portugal, Turkey and Iran.
  • An international project on Coping with Covid-19 among university employees and students (2020).
  • A research on Diversity Barometer (Mångfaldsbarometer) (2012-2020-2022) (The project is aimed also to be conducted in 2024).

International Activities

Cooperation with researchers around the world:

Ahmadi is the responsible for an international project in ten countries. The project concerns meaning-making coping with cancer. Her research group consists of 23 researchers (se Appendix 1) . These countries are: Sweden, Portugal, China, South Korea, Japan, Malaysia, Philippines, Turkey, Iran, Brazil.

She has also been main responsible for an international project among university community on meaning-making coping with Covid-19 and also Covid-19 and job-satisfaction.

Research Administration and Economics Administration

From 2013 I have been the only manger and responsible for an international research project in nine countries, Sweden, Japan, China, South Korea, Turkey, Iran, Malaysia, Portugal and Philippines. Dealing with researchers and university staff in different countries with divergent cultural backgrounds requires a high level of proficiency in both academic and administration area. I have during several years successfully conducted different quantitative and qualitative research in these countries and answered to the financial and other administrative constraints.

I have been the only responsible for three externally financed and several internally funded project, and in this regard has taken care of various administrative tasks that it requires (2000-2014).

I have completed a six-month Higher Economic Administrative Education program with accounting and financial management.

I have been during 17 years a senior lecturer at the department f social work and psychology, University of Gävle, and from 2009 a full professor at this university and therefore have administered various courses in social work and sociology and also education programs and others.

I have been in charge of several courses for several years, which requires experience in education administration (1994- ...).
