Carers and leaders in elderly care
The interplay between structural conditions, managerial and leadership skills, work situation, staff health and business performance
The aim of the project is to study the work environment of staff, managers and employees in elderly care, relationships between structural conditions in the work environment, leadership, staff health and business results. In a longer perspective and based on the results of the first studies, an intervention study is planned with the aim of studying the outcome of an empowerment-based development program for managers in elderly care.
Variables studied over time are managerial and leadership characteristics, structural and psychological empowerment, job satisfaction, psychosomatic health and operational measures.
Data has been collected from both managers and employees in five municipalities/Region Gävleborg.
Duration 2011-2018
Funds have been received from AFA insurance and Region Gävleborg for the first part.
