Patient safety, nursing in anesthesia

Patient safety and nursing care in anesthesia with a focus on the airway

The overall aim of the research project is to study the context, documentation and guidelines for airway assessment during endotracheal intubation, patients' experiences of awake intubation, and anesthesiologists' thoughts on difficult airway and strategies they use to resolve the situation.

Substudy 1: Observational study. Substudy 2: National survey. Substudy 3: Qualitative interview study. Sub-study 4: Qualitative phenomenographic interview study.

Substudies 1 and 2 published. Substudies 3 and 4 submitted.

Duration of the project 2011-2016.
