Magnusson has two ongoing research projects. One is a Swedish Research Council-funded project, STEAM teaching in preschool, running between 2023–2026 and conducted in collaboration between the University of Gävle, Stockholm University, and Umeå University. The other project focuses on the use of analogue and digital games in after-school centres, a study funded within the ULF (Education, Learning, Research) initiative. In addition to these two longer-term studies, Magnusson is also involved in the project Sustainable Teachers for Sustainable Futures (STSF) during 2026. The project is conducted within the framework of EU GREEN in collaboration with the University of Oradea (Romania) and the University of Extremadura (Spain).
