Campus Rules and Regulations

At the University of Gävle, we share the campus and study environment with one another. To create a safe, pleasant, and well-functioning environment, there are rules and regulations that apply to everyone on our premises. Here you’ll find information about campus policies and how we can work together to foster a positive study environment.

Smoking

Smoking is prohibited in all premises managed by the University of Gävle. The ban also applies to e-cigarettes, regardless of whether they contain nicotine or not, hookahs, and herbal products intended for smoking.

Outdoors, the provisions of the Act on Tobacco and Similar Products (2018:2088) apply. According to the Act, smoking is prohibited at the entrances to premises and other areas accessible to the public. Smoking is therefore not permitted in the immediate vicinity of the university’s entrances.

To help maintain a pleasant campus environment, cigarette butts and other litter should be disposed of in the ashtrays and trash cans located throughout the area.

Bicycles, electric scooters, skateboards, and more

Vehicles and wheeled modes of transportation are prohibited indoors.

The University of Gävle is committed to providing a safe work and study environment for students, staff, and visitors. Therefore, there is a general ban on the use of wheeled vehicles and equipment indoors on the university’s premises.

This means, for example, that it is not permitted to ride a bicycle or use an electric scooter, kick scooter, skateboard, inline skates, self-balancing scooter, or similar modes of transportation indoors. The ban also applies to motorized vehicles. For fire safety reasons, bicycle batteries may not be brought indoors.

The ban does not apply to:

• assistive devices for people with disabilities
• internal transportation that must be carried out by staff or contractors.

Posting

Animals

Pets are not allowed on the University’s premises. Exceptions are made for certified assistance dogs and service dogs used in the course of duty.
