Group Model Building Workshop in Gävle
How do air and noise pollution affect people’s health and life in Gävle, and which measures can make the greatest difference? This online workshop brings together participants from different sectors to jointly map connections, identify possible interventions and contribute knowledge to the HARMONIE research project.

This workshop brings together stakeholders from different sectors to jointly explore how air and noise pollution interact with urban systems and population health in Gävle. Using a participatory approach, you will co-create a Causal Loop Diagram (CLD) — a visual map of the causes, consequences, and feedback dynamics of pollution. The five main objectives are to:
- Identify key causes of pollution
- Understand effects on health, economy and society
- Map cause-and-effect relationships
- Find the best places to intervene the system
- Identify drivers and barriers of interventions

What is HARMONIE
- HARMONIE (Health Assessment Refinement for Mitigation of Noise and Air Quality Effects) is a European research project bringing together universities, research centres, technology companies, and municipalities from six countries. Its goal is to
give cities the tools they need to better understand how air and noise pollution affect citizens' health — with a particular focus on vulnerable populations such as the elderly and people with respiratory conditions. - The project combines real-world data collection (sensors, citizen monitoring, health studies) with a Citizen-Centric Digital Twin — a digital platform that lets public authorities visualise pollution hotspots, test "what-if" policy scenarios, and
assess the long-term health impacts of different interventions. The results of today's workshop will directly feed into this platform, helping to shape smarter, evidence-based policies for Gävle.
