Interlibrary loans from other libraries
Materials that the Library does not have can be obtained as an interlibrary loan from another library in Sweden or abroad. Read more about interlibrary loans and who can request them below.
Who can use the interlibrary service?
If you are a student here at the University of Gävle or at another higher education institution, or a researcher or member of staff at the University, as well as a registered library user, you can order interlibrary loans. If you do not belong to any of these listed groups, you need to turn to your local public library.
What material can I request?
Material that you need for your studies or research and which isn't available in print or electronic form in our Library, can be requested as interlibrary loans. Books that are checked out from our Library or that can be found in Gävle Stadsbiblioteks HelGe-katalog External link. cannot be requested as interlibrary loans.
Please note that some materials cannot be requested as interlibrary loans. Among them are entire e-books, reference material, course books, journals and, in many cases, essays and degree projects. Fiction can only be requested for research purposes.
OBS!
Om du vill beställa ett större antal böcker kontakta oss på adress bibfjarr@hig.se innan du gör beställningen.
How do I request a book?
If you are a registered user at the Library, we recommend that you create an interlibrary loan account at the national catalogue Libris and place your book request yourself.
You may also send your request with the complete book reference via email to bibfjarr@hig.se
Please note that you must collect your books at the library. If you are a distance student and want to borrow via an interlibrary loan but cannot collect books from here, you need to request books via a library you can visit instead.
How do I request an article?
When you would like to make a request for an article, you first need to make sure that it is not available in neither print nor electronic form at our Library by checking our Journal list. Next, you send your request directly via the link "Submit an interlibrary loan request to the library" or send the full reference for the article via email to bibfjarr@hig.se.

How do I check out requested materials?
You receive notification of incoming loans via SMS or e-mail. Requested books are collected and returned at the information desk, during the time it is staffed. Photocopies of articles will be sent to your adress together with information on the postal giro account for payment. For University staff, the articles are delivered to your room by internal mail.
