New book on learning as a societal challenge

The anthology "Lärande som samhällsutmaning i en osäker samtid External link." examines learning as a key societal challenge in an era characterised by uncertainty, rapid change and global crises. The authors question both what counts as “societal challenges” and how they are formulated, and highlight that learning is crucial for democracy and societal development. They argue that education should not only be guided by measurable targets and control but must also allow room for creativity, critical thinking and new perspectives.
– The chapter authors are higher education lecturers, and the chapters deal with specific issues across various subjects. It becomes clear that the problems we face today were perhaps not present ten years ago. The question is how we can address and resolve them. It is absolutely vital that we think in new ways about how we work as educators, says Britt Johanne Farstad, one of the anthology’s editors.

The editors of the anthology are Olov Dahlin, Britt Johanne Farstad and Per Vesterlund at the University of Gävle.
