Health promotion for groups in vulnerable life situations
Health promotion for groups in vulnerable life situations - to strengthen the conditions for equal health among vulnerable groups is one of three research directions in public health science.
There are major differences in living conditions and lifestyle habits between different groups in society. Systematic differences in health outcomes between different groups are noted in research. Lifestyle has a major impact on health outcomes, and it varies how different groups are reached with and respond to health information. In this research area, the focus is to study interventions at different levels in society to strengthen prerequisites for health for those groups who live in vulnerable life situations and have greater needs.
The research includes studies that aim to develop systematic working methods that strengthen the conditions for health and well-being for groups in adversity and to strengthen the conditions for professionals to work sustainably and long-term for health equity. The health promoting perspective means starting from what promotes and strengthens health and well-being.
Agenda 2030 with the goal of leaving no one behind is the starting point in this research area, focusing particularly on the UN´s global goals 1, 3, 4, 5 and 10.
