Current research
The main aim of the project is to investigate how mental and physical health in Gävle municipality is affected by the household economy, labor market conditions and workplace conditions.
GHOLDH - Gävle Household, Labor-Market Dynamics and Health Survey
Responsible: Gloria Macassa
I am since June 2012 enrolled as a PhD student at the Department of Health Sciences at Mid Sweden University. The preliminary title of the thesis is "Employment Conditions and Inequities in Health" and will include studies within the GHOLDH project (Gävle Household, Labor Market and Health Outcomes Survey).
The first data collection was conducted in spring 2012 and the plan is to conduct a new survey at the same time in 2014. Within the framework of GHOLDH and the data collection done in 2012, four sub-studies are planned.
The expectation is that the thesis will increase the understanding of the mechanisms and how employment conditions and labor market policies affect the physical and mental health of residents in Gävle municipality, from an equality and justice point of view. As the implications of employment conditions for health and health inequalities are pervasive, results of this thesis can also contribute to helping local policy makers in their efforts to design appropriate measures for fair labor market policies that are protective of health.
