About the researcher

I am a Senior Lecturer in Social Work at the University of Gävle. I teach on the Social Work Programme and the English-taught Bachelor Programme in Social Work, specialising in International Social Work. I coordinate several courses, including "Introduction to Ecosocial Work", and also contribute to student supervision, assessment, and course and programme development.

My research focuses on ecosocial work and how social work can contribute to social and ecological sustainability. I am particularly interested in young people’s wellbeing, participation, and agency, as well as local and community-based opportunities to develop sustainable welfare practices. My doctoral thesis, A Call for Ecosocial Work: Local Opportunities for Promoting Youth Well-Being (2026), examines how municipal policies, local actors and social work can promote young people’s wellbeing as part of an ecosocial transition. My broader research interests include sustainable welfare, ecosocial community work, and the connections between research, education and social work practice.

I am also involved in RESHAPE (2026–2028), an international Erasmus+ project co-funded by the European Union. The project supports the development of sustainable and future-oriented higher education through global collaboration. It focuses on strengthening higher education in Indonesia and Bangladesh by integrating sociocultural sustainability and planetary wellbeing into teaching, curricula and educational practices.
