About the researcher
In my research, I address questions related to state, security and social order with a particular focus on policing. So far, I have studied policing in the context of social movements and political demonstrations, state repression, racism and hate crime, and urban marginalization. I am interested in both contemporary and historical perspectives on policing with a geographical focus on Turkey and Sweden. I also find inspiration from non-Western, southern and post-colonial perspectives on policing and social order.
I obtained my PhD in political and social sciences at European University Institute, Florence in 2013. As a researcher, I have been involved in and run different projects funded by grant authorities such as Swedish Research Council and Nordic Research Council of Criminology.
