My research focuses on the role of people in the energy and transportation systems of the future. I investigate how individuals and households understand the energy system, what drivers and barriers influence sustainable energy behaviors, and how decisions are made under conditions of uncertainty and in crisis situations. I am particularly interested in preparedness and resilience—that is, how people prepare for and cope with disruptions related to energy, climate, and other societal challenges. At the same time, I study how behavioral science interventions can promote sustainable transportation choices and support the transition to a more sustainable society. Through quantitative methods, behavioral experiments, and survey research, I aim to contribute knowledge about how energy and transportation systems can be designed to better serve people, both in everyday life and during times of societal stress.
