Student and Doctoral Student Ombudsman
The Student and Doctoral Student Representative at the University of Gävle is a support for all students and doctoral students who need help with student law issues. The ombudsman offers guidance, advice and assistance in contacts with the University, for example in the event of complaints, meetings or disciplinary board cases. The role is impartial and independent, with the task of informing about rights, procedures and possibilities to pursue cases further - without taking a position or making decisions.
Support in the study situation
The Student and Doctoral Student Representative is available to all undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students. The ombudsman has an advisory role when students at the University of Gävle want support in expressing views or complaints regarding study-related issues.
What does the ombudsman do?
- To guide, assist and support students and doctoral students in student law matters
- Participate in meetings between students, doctoral students and staff at the University and may also participate in investigations
- Provide support to students who are brought before the Disciplinary Board at the University of Gävle.
University staff may also contact the Student and Doctoral Student Ombudsperson to advise on complaint issues, and may ask the Student and Doctoral Student Ombudsperson to attend meetings with students where this is deemed appropriate and if the student wishes.
The role of the Ombudsperson
- be a neutral, independent body between you as a student and the university
- inform you about your rights and obligations as a student
- provide information and guidance on procedures and processes for complaints and appeals.
The Ombudsperson cannot take sides or decide on cases.
