Professional and Management Support Services

Professional and Management Support Services includes a number of specialist functions that provide support and services to students, lecturers, the University Board and the Vice-Chancellor. The University Administration consists of eight divisions.

The department is responsible for

  • investigating, preparing, supporting and developing issues related to the department's areas of responsibility
  • providing support and service to the university board, rector, academies and the joint
  • administration in general in matters relating to the department's areas of responsibility
  • preparation and quality assurance of documentation for the University's budget, financial statements, and other information to be presented in the annual report.

  • developing the University's financial monitoring and accounting
    to be responsible for the University's process and project management and coordination of financial administration.

Division of Finance, Planning end Procurement

We are responsible for issues regarding facilities, telephony, security, Porter's Office, Reception and Copy Centre. We support and give service to students, employees and visitors in matters regarding our fields of activities.

Division of Facility Management and Service

We are responsible for overall personnel issues, salary formation, preparation of senior posts, labour law, work environment issues, negotiations, competence supply and competence development.

Responsibilities of the department:

  • to investigate, prepare, support and develop issues related to the department's areas of responsibility
  • to provide support and service to the university board, the rector, the academies and the joint administration in matters relating to the department's areas of responsibility
  • to be responsible for the University's process and project management and coordination in terms of personnel administration.
  • the University's personnel and salary administration, contract interpretation and salary auditing
    planning and organising staff/management development and other staff development initiatives
  • to plan for the University's competence supply
  • to assist the employment board with labour law expertise and administrative support
  • to coordinate the work environment process
  • Equal conditions issues for staff

IT is part of the Division of Facility Management and Service. We want to ensure that students, employees and visitors get the best possible service.

The Division of Communication and External Relations is responsible for marketing and promotion to priority target audiences (employees, students, the commercial and public sectors, media and the surranding regional community) through internal and external communication.

The aim of our communication is to strengthen trust, so that the University of Gävle will be a recognised and attractive university that

  • students choose for their studies
  • businesses and regional community collaborate with for their research and development
  • attracts competent employees.

Our communication is based on four key words: reliability, openness, open-mindedness and dialogue.

The Division of Educational Support is a resource for both those who already are students and for those who want to study at the University of Gävle.

The division also cooperate with and provide service to a number of other departments within the University. Our aim is to constantly improve our support and student service. The division is also responsible for the Student Centre.

The Library's mission is to be a competence centre for providing information and for teaching involving IKT-techonology and IKT-teaching methods.

The goal of the Library's instruction in information retrieval is to develop students' information competence. The Library unit Learning Center supports netbased learning and increases users' digital competence.

The University Management Office is tasked with process management and coordination of university-wide strategic preparation processes for university-wide decision-making and preparatory departments.

The task includes assisting the University Board, the Rector's function, the University Director, the Education and Research Board and the Disciplinary Board with administrative support. In addition, the department's task is to investigate, prepare, provide expert support, handle, coordinate and administer issues relating to the department's area of responsibility.

The Management Office is also responsible for the University's diary and archives and for the overall systematic environmental management work.
